User guidelines
v 1.0 – June 18, 2025Welcome! By signing in or continuing to use the Debat.EU mobile app (the “App”) you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these terms of use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Purpose of the app
Debat.EU is a business-to-business platform that provides individual debate coaching through an ethical AI system. Your employer (the “Customer”) has authorised your account so you can practise debate skills in a private workspace.
2. Definitions
AI Service – The service that we provide to you in the Debat.EU app.
User Content – any text, audio or material you submit or upload.
Report – A complaint filed via the in-app report icon.
DPO – Our data-protection officer, reachable at kroes@debat.eu.
3. User conduct: allowed and prohibited behaviour
We want every debate session to be productive, respectful and safe. By using the app you agree to:
Allowed behaviour
- Use the app solely for training, coaching or other lawful business purposes
- Ask challenging questions or explore controversial viewpoints provided you remain respectful and factual.
- Provide feedback or report problems so we can keep improving the service.
- Use your own or authorised company material only.
Prohibited behaviour
- Submitting or requesting content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, defamatory, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent or incites self-harm.
- Uploading personal data of third parties without their consent.
- Attempting to produce disallowed content by "jail-break" prompts or prompt-injection.
- Reverse-engineering, scraping or misusing the AI service, models or API
- Disabling, circumventing or interfering with our security or moderation systems.
4. Intellectual property and acceptable use of user content
You must own or have permission for any user content you upload. By submitting user content you grant Debat.NL B.V. a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process, store and display that content solely for providing the coaching service. We will not use it for model training. If you believe your copyrighted work has been uploaded without permission, please send a detailed notice to kroes@debat.eu and we will respond promptly.
5 Moderation and reporting
All inputs and outputs are screened in real-time. During any battle you can tap the report icon, describe the problem, optionally include chat excerpts, and press send. We investigate every report within 96 hours and take appropriate action.
6. AI-Generated content disclaimer
The app uses the AI service to transcribe speech and generate coaching responses. AI output is for learning purposes only and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on the AI for professional, legal or medical advice.
7. Service availability and force-majeure
We target a maximum amount uptime but the app may be unavailable during scheduled maintenance or events beyond our control. Neither party is liable for delay or failure caused by force-majeure events such as natural disasters, internet outages or government restrictions.
8. Licence, device restrictions and export controls
Debat.NL B.V. grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on any iOS or android device that you own or control, in compliance with the relevant app store terms. You may not use, export or re-export the app or underlying technology in violation of EU or U.S. export-control laws or to any sanctioned country or individual.
9. Suspension or termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, the privacy policy or applicable law, or if your employer’s subscription ends. You may delete your account at any time via settings → delete account.
10. Liability
The app is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties and limit our liability to direct damages capped at the fees paid for the service under your employer’s contract.
11. Governing law and agreement precedence
These terms are governed by dutch law. They supplement but do not override the master service agreement between Debat.NL B.V. and the customer; in case of conflict, the enterprise agreement prevails. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court of amsterdam unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
12. Severability and waiver
If any provision of these terms is held invalid, the remaining sections remain in force. Failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.
13. Survival
Sections 4 (Intellectual property), 5 (Moderation and reporting), 7 (Service availability and Force-majeure), 8 (Licence and export controls), 10 (Liability), 11 (Governing law and precedence) and 12 (Severability and waiver) survive account deletion or termination of these terms.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect legal, technical or business changes. If changes are material we will notify you in-app or via e-mail at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
15. Contact and data-protection officer
